Client Reveal: Family Room Design

A few months ago I showed you the Before & Progress photos of one of my design client's family room. Today I'm excited to share the final reveal! With just a few simple yet effective changes, the room looks brand new. To refresh your memory, here is the before:

With tall ceilings, the media console was too small. We needed something more substantial and something brighter to add contrast to the room, since the leather couches were staying. Once we found the new white media center, we found the perfect artwork for above the TV. Hanging art around your TV like this distracts from the huge black box, and instead directs your eye to beautiful paintings, photos, etc. It's also a great way to add color to the room! Finally, we had custom pillows made and found a beautiful mirror, curtains and a few accessories to finish it off. Here's the reveal!

DETAILS | Console (on sale!) / Trellis mirror / Curtains (on sale!) / Lamps

Aren't the colors lovely? It's such a serene room now-- perfect for the sweet family of 5!

Life Lately: Easter + Trip to the Beach

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter :) He has risen indeed! I'm spending the week with my parent's in California and it's been really fun. We died Easter eggs together on Saturday night, but instead of dunking them, I thought it'd be fun to do floral designs. We smeared some color on the eggs, then let them dry. Once they dried, we drew flower shapes in sharpie over the eggs. I adapted this from some inspiration pictures I found on Pinterest! They were easy and fun.

I'm spending the week with my parent's in California and it's been really fun. Last week my mom and I went to Carmel, which is the city we're getting married in, and we had a great day together! We spent some time at the ocean (how gorgeous is this view?!), went into the town to get lunch, went wine tasting, and walked around the Carmel Mission. It was beautiful, especially on Good Friday.  Here are some pictures from our day spent in one of my favorite cities.

I've been so grateful to spend this time with my family!

Enjoy your week!

How to Transition Your Home to Spring

With it being the first week of Spring and all, it's a great time to talk about transitioning your home for the new season! Here are my tips...

pillows

1. Brighten with pops of color.
You can do this with pillows, rugs, vases, new art, or dishes!

via

2. Introduce different textures.
Maybe you've had chunky, woven throw blankets out all winter. It's time to change up the textures and introduce more sleek, simple looks!

3. Spring cleaning!
Perhaps the best advice on how to transition into Spring is getting organized. To do that, I go through my clothes closet and my other closets to either throw out or give away anything I didn't wear or use in the last year. It's so relieving! Sometimes creating 3 piles (keep, trash and give away/donate) is the best way to do that.

Once you get rid of anything you don't absolutely need, I suggest getting nice storage baskets to keep your closets in order! Don't overwhelm yourself by doing too much at once. Focus on one room for one week, and another the next week.

4. Pick up Spring flowers and plants for your home.
Here are some of the prettiest spring flowers!
Agapanthus
Amaryllis
Anemone
Birds of Paradise
Cherry blossom
Dahlia
Freesia
Heather
Hyacinth
Orchids
Peony
Rose
Sweet pea
Tulip
Zinnia

5. Outdoor furniture and accessories.
It's time to embrace the outdoors again! I can't wait to set up my patio furniture again soon, complete with pillows, chairs, and some fun plants and lanterns!

How are you embracing Spring and transitioning YOUR home?
