Home Tour: Nantucket Home with Hues of Blue

Boy, oh boy, do I have a beautiful house tour for you today! When I stumbled upon this stunner, I knew I had to share it. It's a good mix of elegant, casual, neutral with intentional color (but it doesn't feel overwhelming), thoughtful details and a lived-in, homey look. Take a look to see what I mean!

I love this entry way so much! The color is gorgeous. For some reason, I'm so drawn to the fact that it's color, but it doesn't seem to be overpowering, probably due to the fact that the rest of the walls in surrounding rooms are neutral.

So many windows!! I love the natural light. The pops are blue are perfectly scattered throughout the room. I read in the home tour on Trad Home that the white walls are "White Dove" by BM. I've used this color in clients homes before and it's the perfect creamy white.

Okay, guys. Let's chat about this room. It's a dining room that appears to have TWO dining tables. This homeowner must have a huge family! I love that settee piece in the middle of the room. The colors are amazing-- a needed burst in a neutral room. The height of the back is also awesome because it causes the eye to go up and creates height.

Look at this beautiful kitchen! White cabinets with a darker kitchen island and clean hardware. I love that the pop of blues is still continuing throughout this whole first level.

The office; so cozy and quiet.

This powder bath's wallpaper is gorgeous! In a small space like this, a bold pattern is a show stopper.

Possibly my favorite room in the house is this bedroom! I've always been a fan of red, white, and blue schemes. With 4th of July right around the corner, I love this room even more. The way they distributed the color with more blue to red, was right on point to make sure the balance was kept.

This bedroom just looks like a retreat. Sign me up :)

You can shop the look below:

Do you love the home as much as I do? If this was on Air bnb, I'd reserve a slot asap! :)

Have a wonderful Thursday! Happy birthday to my husband!!

Fashion: Striped Off the Shoulder Dress

You may or may not know about my affinity for blue and white everything. If you don't, you'll know after today's post ;) When I saw this striped off the shoulder dress from The Mason Jar Boutique, I knew I had to have it! It's the perfect summer dress for so many reasons. Off the shoulder, stripes, fitted at the waist, lined (major plus in my book!) and blue and white...what's not to love?!

The way the top ruffles is SO sweet and feminine. Truthfully, I feel a bit Southern in this dress and I absolutely love that :)

The Short List 4

Hi everyone! Happy Monday. I hope you enjoyed your weekend celebrating your fathers. I shared a little about my dad here, if you want to take a look!

The Short List series is back! I'll be giving you the scoop on what we've been up to lately-- what we're reading, watching, eating, etc. If you want another topic added to the mix, just let me know and I'll add it next month.

What We're Watching: Well now that our favorite shows are taking a break until fall (Designated Survivor and This Is Us) we have been watching lots of The Office on Netflix. Neither of us have seen it all the way through, though we've both seen most of it, so it's been a good time. We just finished FRIENDS also. I've seen that a couple times through all the way, but my husband has never seen it! (I couldn't believe it, so we fixed that!) My husband is really into House of Cards and I, rather shamefully, watch The Bachelorette. Not super into this season yet.

One show I really like is Married at First Sight. Sort of embarrassed to admit this, but it's so interesting! Essentially it's arranged marriages by experts and the show follows the 3 couples they paired together in marriage to see how the grow to love each other (or not). This is the fourth or fifth season and it's crazy that some of the couples actually stay together and are so happily married now! Does anyone watch this?! Please tell me I'm not the only one ;)

What I'm Loving:

1. I've been LOVING the peaches from Trader Joe's recently. SO GOOD! Might need to make my peach cobbler soon.

2. Summer! I think Wednesday is the first official day of summer, but it's been warm temps here for a few weeks now. I feel so alive in the summer! ;)

3. We had a great Bloom Workshop last week in Traverse City, Michigan. Our mini workshops are always some of our favorites, so we might just be adding another workshop to the fall!

4. These flat sandals:

6. I'm also obsessed with tassels right now. This white tank is affordable and you know how I love a cute white top! It goes with everything :) Pair it with my favorite chambray shorts and outfit complete!

What We're Eating: We've been doing Blue Apron meals once a month for the past 3-4 months and it's been really fun. Three meals will be on my door step this Tuesday and I can't wait! It means I also don't have to do a lot of grocery!! If you want a referral to get your first order of 3 meals FREE, comment with your email address! I'll send you a referral asap.

What's on My Desk: This last week I was working on some decor for a client's playroom. We're starting with pillows. I came up with 3 options for her. Which is your favorite?!

SHOP: neutral textured / navy pillow / floral / coral herringbone rug  (comes in a bunch of colors!)

SHOPneutral textured / embroidered blue / home pillow

Looking Forward to: My husband turns 28 on Thursday...holy cow!! I'm looking forward to celebrating him with some friends!

What We're Reading: I am a very slow reader naturally, but I haven't been spending a lot of time reading recently. That's what happens in the summer I guess! I'm still trying to finish the last few chapters of A Broken Way. I really want a fun chick flick novel to read at the beach this summer though, so I'll take suggestions!

That's my short list! Answer some of these in the comments so I can get to know you better :)

Thanks for reading!

Friday Finds: Blue Stripe Dress & Sale Favorites

Happy Friday everyone! After teaching The Bloom Workshop this Tuesday, I took two days off blogging to get caught up on design work. But I'm back today with some favorite finds, like usual.

The Mason Jar Boutique has quickly become one of my favorite places to shop! Their pieces are unique with tons of floral patterns, which are my favorite. The prices are also extremely affordable, which my wallet is very thankful for ;) Here's a sneak peek of an outfit I'll be showing you next week. The boutique is having a 20% off sale this weekend only!

Dress / BraceletShoes: you need these. No other way to put it ;) They are really comfortable (due to the short heel) and super fun for spring through fall. They're almost sold out, but have another pair of tassel booties that are equally as cute.

I bought my first pair of Lululemon pants the other day! I'm already head over heels for them. I know, I know, I'm super late to the Lulu party, but they're kinda pricey (though worth it, I've heard)! I have been waiting for my other work out pants to kick the curb, so I could invest in these. They are so cute and SOFT. I got this pair because they are a summer style. Love the mesh up the sides!

This adorable one shoulder top caught my eye in the sale section! Here are some of my other favorites at Nordstrom:

I tried this dress on at Anthro the other day and was immediately smitten. The neckline is SO cute and the florals...ah! I die. It's 20% off, along with all other dresses and jumpsuits. Sale is also an additional 25% off!

LOFT is having a 40% off sale with code NEWNOW. I love everything they have right now!! Here are some favorites, though:

Hope you have a great weekend!

Client Project: Neutral Great Room

One of my goals this year is to share more of my client work on the blog, so today I'm showing you one of my latest family room designs. This family lives in California and just built a beautiful new home. I have a soft spot for new builds, because it means we have a blank canvas to work with!

This family room is more of a "great room", because it's open to the pretty white kitchen, dining area and looks out onto the California room, which is similar to a sunroom. My client Jean wanted something light and airy but with a bit of contrast, to pair well with the dining room we designed. Here's what we came up with

After talking it over, we actually decided against the soft ottoman as a coffee table and instead decided on this awesome wood coffee table. Her kids like to play card games often, so this will be the perfect place for that!

I can't wait to show you how it comes together when the pieces start arriving. Stay tuned!

If you need help envisioning or designing a room in your home or your house in its entirety, I'd love to help! Head to my website to check out my portfolio and then contact me here. I'm now taking a few one hour consults for the end of June + am beginning to book for July.

Have a great Tuesday!

Hair Tutorial: Simple Twist

Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend. What'd you all do? We went to a graduation party, worked out,  went to church, and soaked up even more sun...hooray! Today we're sharing an easy summer style. I love wearing my hair parted to one side with the side with less hair in a little twist. But that gets old quick, so my friend and hair stylist, Chelsea, came up with a little "twist" on the style (pun intended ;)) Tutorial is below!

1. Start with lose curls. For tips on how to get your curls to look like this, check out THIS hair tutorial. We also want to mention that to prep the hair well (meaning, if your hair is too slippery, it won't hold!) you should be dusting some Push Powder into the scalp to create volume and good base for any style.

2. Side part your hair. We're going to be working on the side with less hair.

3. Grab a small section of hair 1/2-1" back from your hairline and twist it away from your face.

4. Secure upwards with a bobby pin, shoving the pin in the same direction as the twist, so you can't see it.

5. Now take the hair that's left in front of your ear and divide into two sections, then twist the two pieces together away from your face. We're doing this to add texture and interest.

6. Secure this twist with a pin or two on top of the first secured twist, also hiding the bobby pins.

7. Gently tug on the tops of the twists to create some volume. Finish with some hair spray.

I do this style all the time and love it! Let me know if you give it a try :)

Happy Monday!
